Hacker News Newsletter
There are many email newsletters available for the Hacker News audience. We don't offer newsletter for our RSS feed, but if you want to receive it as a newsletter over email, you can try out any RSS to email solution, like IFTTT's RSS to Email applet. We have already setup an IFTTT applet for newsletter, which you can subscribe here.
Still, we strongly believe that RSS feeds are better than the email newsletters, and here are few reasons why:
- RSS feeds provide real-time updates, they don't contribute to an overflowing inbox, and they allow users to customize their news consumption according to their preferences.
- Newsletters can be cluttered with editor's description, ads and promotions. On the other hand, our RSS feed contains just the top 60 front-page stories of the day from the Hacker News. Nothing else.
- With RSS feeds, there is no risk of missing important updates due to email spam filters.
- No email required: Newsletters require an email address, while RSS feeds don't require any personal information from you. All you need is an RSS reader of your choice, and you're good to go.
- Privacy Friendly: Newsletters often track your reading habits, monitoring both open rates and link clicks. Typically, they encode outbound links, redirecting users to the original source through their own servers. This helps them in tracking clicks along with other private data of the users like their IP address, browser information etc. This doesn't apply to our RSS feed, as we don't encode or hide the original source links, and hence, we can't track the users.
- Additionally, RSS feeds are easy to integrate into various applications, allowing for a more flexible and convenient user experience.
If you don't use any RSS reader yet, we recommend trying out Feedly, which offers a generous free account. Click here to subscribe in Feedly.
